Most advanced career test in the world

Most career tests in use today are still limited to measuring just ~6 broad interests. Some also cover needs or personality. Until now, the best ones could distinguish up to ~40 categories of specific interests. TESTERLY pioneers a significantly improved level of accuracy because we:

  1. Cover more interests: 204 interest categories is more than 5X any other survey.
  2. Cover more types of content: Interests, personality, needs, aversions, and context.
  3. Cover more careers: All 923 careers recognized by the US Department of Labor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the career test really free?

Yes, everything is free for now. There are no paywalls.

How accurate is the test?

Each scale we measure is designed to exceed .80 Cronbach alpha reliability. Ours is one of the few assessments that cover all relevant dimensions of career fit (e.g., interests, need satisfaction, aversions, personality fit). In particular, the 30-minute Interest Aspects section offers a 5× increase in specificity over any other assessment (204 dimensions of fit vs. 40 dimensions of fit). No other career test in the world reaches this level of precision in career matching. But don't take our word for it! See how we compare with other popular tools.

Who is this test designed for?

The test is designed for career explorers of all ages (12 to 120). Whether you're a student choosing courses or an adult considering a career change, we aim to help you learn about yourself and your career options.

Can schools use it?

Absolutely! See our features for schools.

How long will it take?

The first section should take less than a minute. There is up to 60 minutes of content available, divided into 8 sections overall. You can complete as much or as little as you like.

Can I retake the test?

Yes, as many times as you like.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can take the test and view your results without creating an account. We offer optional sign-in features in case you want to save and revisit your results in the future.

How private is my data?

You can complete all materials anonymously, without providing your name or contact info. You own your data, not us. We never sell your personal data to 3rd parties. You can also request that your data be deleted at any time. We apply industry best practices for security, including using strong modern encryption when handling your information.

Will you send me emails or marketing messages?

No. Unless you explicitly ask to receive updates, we won’t send you marketing emails or messages.

Where does the career data come from?

We match to 840+ careers in the Standard Occupational Classification model. Data comes from official government publications on wage, growth, and employment statistics. In the rare instances where government-provided wage information isn't available for a particular career, we supplement wage statistics with data from ZipRecruiter.

Does the test discriminate on protected grounds (e.g., race, gender)?

We don't use any protected grounds to inform matches. While demographic groups may show some differences in interests and priorities, we work hard to minimize those group differences when designing the test.

How does TESTERLY make money?

We don't currently make money from this career matching service. You can see our other (paid) services on our homepage.

In the future, we may offer some paid add-ons or monetize some parts of the service. But for now, everything remains free. Enjoy!
